Caring For All Of Our Kids When A Sibling Struggles With Their Mental Health

September 15, 2026 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm PDT

When one of our kids is struggling with their mental health or substance misuse challenges, it’s natural to focus a lot of our energy on supporting them. This can make it feel tricky or even impossible at times to connect with our other children. We may even miss some of the hard our other children may be going through. A mom, sibling and psychologist share their insights in this gentle and compassionate video. They focus on connection, and ways we can care for all our kids while a sibling is struggling. Together, they share actionable ways to normalize your siblings’ mixed feelings and ensure every child feels seen and supported in their role within the family.

We invite you to join us and other families in a supportive space where your voice and perspective truly matter. Together, we’ll watch a video and share strategies to help navigate those hard moments, and focus on strengthening our understanding and connection with our kids.

Whether you have questions or unique ideas from your own journey, your contributions are a valuable part of our conversation. This inclusive, supported discussion is gently facilitated by a FamilySmart Family Peer Support Worker who understands the challenges we face as parents.

6:30pm-8:00pm Pacific Time (British Columbia)
